Alterations

Despite the last version of Grave Boundaries being very popular, i have edited the footage further. This is mainly in the title sequence and the time between Tina being normal and becoming a zombie. I have also decided to film the character Alexis doing a video diary of what happened during this time to make it clearer to the viewers

Editing the Footage

I spent a lot of time editing this footage, including time outside of lessons. The song choices have been changed as well but the overall effect is what was desired. Better footage could have been collected if i could have got a couple more actors to be zombies for me as the same zombies are used for the title sequence and the end sequence, however we had a lot of fun with it and there is also a bloopers reel (sorry for the language). Uploading it to youtube has proven time consuming, however i will upload it to the blog as soon as i can.

Filming Day One

On tuesday 6th May, I put zombie make up on my dad and had to film him in the park on a sunny day, limping, groaning and twitching, running up to a fourteen year old girl and biting her on the arm. Following this, he had to chase my little brother into the woods (which took three takes). We got some very strange looks as there were many people in the park due to the nice weather. Luckily I was using a TV camera that was big enough for people to see so that they understood why this 54 year old man was acting so strangely. It was difficult to manage everyone as most of the actors are my friends and were mucking around and know each other well, however the shots collected were brilliant and editing is going well. All that is left to shoot now is the title sequence, end sequence and voice overs, which are being recorded this evening. Here are some photos of the make up; the practice run I did on myself, my dad with the make up and the 14 year old (Tina) becoming a zombie.

Actors

The actors have now been chosen for the parts and have given consent (especially those playing zombies as they have to wear contact lenses). Brad will be played by my brother Howard, Alexis will be played by my sister Savannah, Darren will be played by my other brother Felix and the Middle Aged Man will be played by my dad Peter. The zombies used in the title sequence will be played by Felix and Savannah and Howard will play the scared teen. All of the footage will be shot in Fleet as i know of places nearby that will be suitable for the footage needed.

Storyboard

The storyboard is now complete and is in great detail (7 sheets). music has been chosen to go over particular parts of footage, such as Marilyn Manson's 'Disposable Teens' for the title sequence, 'Eat You Alive' by Limp Bizkit when Brad is being chased through the woods and 'Hell Above' by Pierce The Veil when Brad is being chased by Tina. Also, when Tina is kicked down just before she dies, 'Binge' by Papa Roach is played. These choices fit the atmosphere for the footage being shown at these times and enhance the way that it is events being shown from a teenager's (Brad's) point of view.

Production Schedule Part 2

This was started and completed today. The only things needed for production are a track, tripods and two cameras. The crew needed consists of 1 cameraman, a costume and make up designer, a director and producer, all of these roles are mine due to myself being the only group member. I will need four teenage actors to play the main characters - Brad, Tina, Darren and Alexis. I shall also need 3 more actors for the title sequence - 1 male zombie, 1 female zombie, 2 more male zombies and a male teenager. Transport will be whatever is available to get the actors to the park. Props needed will be 4 sets of coloured contact lenses, fake blood and a flat peak. Post-production requirements will only be musical, a metal door slamming sound effect, Marilyn Manson's 'Disposable Teens' and Limp Bizkit's 'Eat You Alive'

Production Schedule Part 1

Each of the paperwork tasks have been carefully planned, majority of which have now been completed. The only tasks that remain incomplete is the storyboard for the main part of the drama (the title sequence is complete) and the Talent Report as i am currently unaware of who will be starring in my TV Drama.

Storyboard For Title Sequence

So far I have only done the storyboard for the title sequence. However, this is very detailed, two sheets long, for a 40 second sequence. I will be using Marilyn Manson's 'Disposable Teens' as the music for the sequence and many cutting shots of both zombies and victims. The final shots of the title sequence will be a zombie chasing a teen into a dead end, the teen turns to face the zombie. The camera will then pan from the zombie's feet up to his face, holding at the zombies face for a second before cutting to a blank screen. 'Child Catchers' will then show on the screen, then both the image and the music will fade out over a period of two seconds. I am very excited about creating this and i can't wait to see the final clip.

Risk Assesment

There were not many risks to worry about during the production of the TV drama. The main issues would be the contact lenses, however i am buying them from a well known, trusted seller and have used contact lenses from this seller and company before, so i know that they are safe to use. The only other issues would be problems such as falling over whilst running or broken equipment, which are easy issues to reduce the risks to, by wearing proper footwear and wearing the neck strap when using the cameras, unless they are on a tripod, in which case they will need to be secure and on a flat surface.

Recce List

Although this is not a necessary task on the Assignment Sheet, it is something that needs to be planned before filming can begin. I have decided to film my TV drama in Fleet, where I live. The main part of the drama will be in Oakley Park, as it is easy to access, has an alleyway and play park and a wooded area, so will give the easiest setting to collect the footage needed. For the dead end parts in the title sequence, i will use the garage areas behind the Linkway in Fleet, as it is very quiet and easy to access also. It will make availability of the needed shots much higher.

Production Roles and Responsibilities

The Roles and Responsibilities list was very easy to do as i am the only group member, so its all on me. I will be the Director, Producer, Cameraman and Costume Designer. I have decided to get coloured contact lenses for the characters playing zombies and have made my own fake blood and practiced make up to make the zombies look convincing. The main issue will be availability of equipment when it comes to filming.

Powerpoint on Single Camera Drama

I chose to do my analysis on 'Misfits' as it is very similar to my idea for a TV Drama. Misfits is a drama about a group of young offenders completing community service, when a freak storm hits, giving themselves and people in the surrounding area strange powers. There is also a zombie episode, when cheerleaders visit the community centre, which is where i got my inspiration from. I also got inspiration for character ideas and group dynamic from Misfits as it is shown to be highly successful.

Script Writting

I began writting the script earlier this morning (24.04.2014) and finished it today. All of the shots and equipment needed has been written in great detail. The title sequence has also been decided. The background music for the title sequence will be 'Disposable Teens' by Marilyn Manson (0:02 seconds - 0:42 seconds). The characters are well developed and group dynamic is quickly established within the TV drama. The first five minutes consists of the 40 second title sequence, then a group of college students at the park doing media work. However, the popular girl soon gets bitten and things go a bit heywire when she turns into a zombie. The drama is shown from one of the character's point of view (Brad).
